"Blindsided By Hope" - Alive Day

You know how some acts just have all their ducks in a row? The name of the band is perfect for the style of music they play. Even the artwork seems to reflect the vibe of the record. Well, Alive Day is one of those acts.
Alive Day delivers an ambient pop sound, set in a somewhat classic rock template. It has the great singer/songwriter lyric and vocal appeal, courtesy of singer and guitarist Dan Arrecis. Reminiscent of Seals & Crofts, or perhaps even Steve Winwood, Arrecis's subtle tone seems to caress the deepest regions of the soul. That soft and comforting tone is found in songs of tenderness, but it also resonates through songs with strong pop hooks and classic rock influences. If you can imagine the vocal sound of Seals & Crofts fronting an adult contemporary rock act like the Gin Blossoms, you might have an idea of what Alive Day might sound like.
This is a very unique sound. It's also a sound that might carry you away to your own personal utopia. When I started to listen to the disc, I found myself daydreaming about my younger years and my old neighborhood. I would invite anyone that can appreciate great melody and vocal tone to take a journey of their own, and allow Alive Day to do the driving.
